Frequently Asked Questions

Most for-profit and nonprofit businesses can qualify, including manufacturing, hospitality, retail, medical, warehousing, self storage, and many service businesses. Cooperatives, tribes, and public bodies may also be eligible. Businesses generally must be at least 51% owned by U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

USDA Business & Industry financing is designed for rural areas — generally locations in a city or town with a population of 50,000 or less. Only the project site must meet the rural test; your headquarters can be in a larger city.

Loans commonly range from about $200,000 up to $25 million per borrower, depending on the project. Larger amounts may be possible in limited circumstances.

Timelines vary by deal complexity, but a typical file moves from consultation to closing over several weeks to a few months.

Common items include business financials, tax returns, a business plan or project summary, cash-flow projections, personal financial statements from owners, and property details. We provide a clear checklist up front.

The fastest way is a free consultation and eligibility review. We confirm your location, project type, and financing needs, then tell you honestly whether USDA financing is a good fit.
